Passages Couverts Sound Map
As part of my Paris Soundscapes Project I've set myself the task of recording and archiving the sounds inside each of the surviving passages couverts in Paris.
Altogether, one hundred and fifty of these passages couverts, or covered arcades, were built mainly in two bursts of activity – from 1823 to 1828 and from 1839 to 1847. Of these one hundred and fifty, just twenty remain today.
I'm illustrating these passages here in the form of a sound map so you can see where the surviving passages couverts are located and hear the sounds inside them. You can see more details of these arcades by clicking here on the Passage Couverts page on my Blog.
To hear the sounds inside the passages click on the markers on the map.
I will add more sounds to this map over the coming weeks.
